    The suspension Shannon and his brother Nick designed is better in every way than the stock with the exception of one thing. They made a decision to keep the stock suspension geometry, after all the Polaris engineers are not stupid and they have done this right many times before. With the stock geometry, they avoided adding any handling quirks nobody needed and were able to lower the Center of Gravity (COG) by 1.5” and raise clearance by nearly 3”. The trailing arms do not contain a bend making them stronger but this also requires the use of different wheels with a maximum of 3.5” backspace. This requirement will widen the stance nearly 7” increasing travel.

     

    All of the above are benefits from the vast Campbell experience, but another key to winning races or simply getting back to the trailer is the strength. The construction of this kit is unsurpassed with CNC bent and Laser Cut .120” Wall 4130 Chromoly tubing, .188 thick 4130 Chromoly Plate, 7075 Aluminum, and 300M materials. The hardware involved includes ¾” & ⅝” Heat Treated Chromoly Heim joints, ⅞” & ⅝” Stainless Heat Treated Uniballs housed in a Chromoly Cup, and both ⅞” & ¾” 300M Knuckle and Steering Pins. All held together by Grade 8 & 10.9 Bolts.


    Note: There are special editions and models that can be an exception to which bolt size your radius rods may have. Be sure to check what size radius rod bolts you have. 15mm Socket = 10mm Bolts and 18mm Socket = 12mm.

    Note: There are special editions and models that can be an exception to which steering kit will fit. We have found when the inner tie rod is removed the threads will either be 14mm (.55) or 16mm (.62). Be sure to check this to verify which kit will work for you. 

    Inspired by the King Of The Hammers UTV Race, when the Campbell Team purchased aftermarket steering kit’s for the three competing car’s and by the end of the race all three RZR's had bent tie rods, which could have possibly cost them the race. This kit is designed by Shannon Campbell, and rigorously test by Shannon, Wayland and Bailey. This steering kit is specifically designed to take the abuse of off-road racing so you can be confident it will not fail you out on the trail or sand dunes.

    Constructed from 6061 aluminium hex, tapered down toward the chassis with a 3/4" Heated Chromoly Rod End and held together with a 300M tapered stud to attach to the knuckle.

    Our Lower Radius Rods are also very simple but with some serious improvements over the factory rods. The factory Radius Rods are simply too thin to add the bends needed for clearance which is a fail on both accounts. Being so thin (¾”) they are both delicate AND don’t have the clearance to avoid obstacles.

     

    The stock Radius Rods are 3/4” Diameter X .065” Wall Mild Steel. We make our Lower Radius Rods with 1.25” Diameter .25” Wall CNC Bent 4130 Chromoly material strong enough to take the bends required to give the additional clearance. Remember that our kits give you 3” more clearance than stock and can take the hit that will eventually come. The chassis end employs a 7/8” Heat Treated Stainless Uniballs housed in a 4130 Chromoly cup to prevent roll. The wheel side uses a 5/8” Heat Treated 4130 Chromoly Rod End.

     

    The Lower Radius Rods are more than 500% stronger than the 3/4” stock rods and they weigh in at 7lbs each so the 3.5lb weight gain versus the strength gain matters very little.

     

    Our Upper Radius Rods are really very simple but definitely stand out from the crowd. When you look at the stock rods you think they are fine, they are out of the way but you don’t think about what will happen to them if the lowers fail. We cure that issue by making them strong enough to withstand a lower radius rod failure while retaining the flexibility required.

     

    These are built from solid 1” round 7075 aluminum bar, a material known for extreme flexibility and strength with ⅝” heat treated chromoly heim joints versus ¾” tin foil thick stock rods with bushing ends. Which would you prefer? The weight difference is ½ lb.

    Our Campbell designed Trailing Arms are completely different than the factory arms. The reason is first and foremost to avoid dents. Dents immediately become the area where the arm will bend, by avoiding the initial dent you avoid the eventual bend. 

     

    How do we do that? It is really kind of simple, we don’t allow it by pressing a 1.75” 7075 aluminum bar into the 2” x .120” wall 4130 chromoly tubing, completely filling the tubing with aluminum which makes that first dent nearly impossible. By avoiding the first dent we avoid nearly all possible failures. Also by going round we gained nearly 1” of vertical clearance. The arms raced in KOH this year are all still on the 3 XP1000 Turbos that took 1st, 2nd, and 15th place in a field of 97 starters and they definitely took hundreds of serious impacts but are still as straight as when new! While of those 97 starters only 70 finished.

     

    The second step we took to make these better than the others is how we constructed the hub cage. It is CNC cut and bent .188” thick 4130 chromoly plate that is reinforced structurally by a formed double gusset over 7” long. This is a huge increase in strength over stock.

     

    Finally we replaced the stock bearing with a ¾” Heat Treated 4130 chromoly heim joint to increase both flexibility and durability. The remaining hardware is a 10.9 grade to match the factory hub and chassis metric patterns.

     

    Our arms include all hardware and are a complete bolt on replacement for stock. You will need wheels with a maximum 3.5” backspace, we use Raceline 15” Double Beadlocks with a 2” backspacing. This wider stance increases both stability and travel. The weight of the arms is 24lbs each, 5.5lbs heavier than stock with a greater than 400% increase in strength, I think that is a fair trade!

     

    These Trailing Arms are a direct bolt in replacement for the factory arms and include all you need to do it right the first time! Installation time is about 1.5 hour per arm and can be done by a novice mechanic. You will love the results!
